Looking for career direction?
For many of us, we fell into our career by accident or without careful analysis or deep introspection on the issue. During adulthood, questions and thoughts such as "is this all there is?" or "I don't know what I want to do, but I know it's not this!" may arise, causing confusion and a lack of direction.
Sometimes career change is foisted upon us, requiring us to react and deal both practically and emotionally with changing circumstances.
Consulting with a career counsellor may prove very beneficial. Counsellors use varying methods to assist you and it is of the utmost importance that you feel comfortable with the person you will be working with.
At Career Wisdom, the principal consultant is Lois Keay-Smith. A trained career counsellor, Lois calls herself a career consultant, as she blends career counselling and coaching methodology with marketing strategies. Her client-centred approach means that she is flexible with the method of assisting individual clients. Lois does not choose to rely heavily on testing and assessments as she finds personal interaction and intuitive processes to be highly effective in most cases.
Lois holds a Graduate Certificate in Career Development from Edith Cowan University and is an Associate Member of the Australian Association of Career Counsellors.
Career consultation sessions are held in person, by appointment, at offices in Helena Valley (20 mins directly east of Perth, via Great Eastern Hwy Bypass), or at Cambridge Forum, Wembley (Cambridge Street). Phone consultations are also available.
The initial session is for 2 hours duration (the time moves quickly!) at a cost of $AUD250.00 (inc. GST) at Lois' office in Helena Valley or $300.00 at the Wembley office. Additional shorter sessions are booked as required (you are not locked in to a contract or specific number of sessions). Many clients typically have 3 sessions, with some requesting on-going career or business coaching. Email followup is included between sessions.
Remote career counselling is available, via telephone or using Skype (an internet based voice communication system which can be dowloaded for free and is free to use. Visit Skype for more details.)
Lois also has links with associates who have varied approaches and specialties in career counselling and coaching. At times, clients may be referred to particular associates where appropriate.
